Abu Dhabi hotels in August were the most popular in the Middle East

According to STR Global, while demand for accommodation in the Middle East region decreased significantly in August, the capital of Abu Dhabi in August proved to be the only tourist destination in the region, where hotel occupancy, on the contrary, increased.

The average occupancy rate of hotel rooms in the Middle East in August fell to 45.4%, which is 7.2% less than in August last year. The occupancy of Abu Dhabi hotels, at the same time, in August increased by 3.9% to 49.8%.

At the same time, the average cost of a hotel room in Abu Dhabi decreased by 16.7% to US $ 109.54. In general, the average cost of accommodation in the countries of the Middle East region increased by 16% compared with August last year, reaching US $ 199.22.

As for the countries of North Africa, the consequences of the "Arab spring" continued to affect the number of tourists in the region in August, causing a significant drop in all the main indicators of the hotel industry. So, in Cairo there was a decrease in hotel occupancy by 50.9%, in Beirut - by 34.7%.
