Famous Indian couturier launches virtual fashion show in Abu Dhabi

Master couturier Manish Malhotra visited Abu Dhabi and, with the support of national air carrier Etihad Airways, held a unique fashion show using virtual reality technology.

The well-known Indian couturier Manish Malhotra, with the support of Etihad Airways, together with Lakmé Fashion Week arrived in Abu Dhabi in January.

Known for his work in Bollywood with world stars, Manish visited the Etihad Airways Innovation Center and officially launched a virtual reality fashion show hosted with cutting-edge technology at Lakmé Fashion Week in Mumbai last August.

On the podium there are more than 75 models. Spectators can plunge into the thick of events and feel like part of an extravagant event. Manish Malhotra became the first Indian fashion designer to decide on such an unusual step. Etihad Airways used the same virtual reality technology in the Reimagine video, filmed with the participation of Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman, which provided customers with unprecedented access to the Airbus A380 cabin.

Lakmé Fashion Week has become one of a series of fashion events around the world held under the auspices of Etihad Airways as part of the company's three-year agreement with WME | IMG. The next Lakmé Fashion Week session will open in Mumbai on February 1.

During his visit, the famous designer met the famous three-room suite. The tour also included a Q & A session about the fashion industry, travel and life, which were broadcast on social networks.

Patrick Pearce, vice president of sponsorship for Etihad Airways, said: “As the international fashion industry prepares for the first major events of the year ... we are pleased to host Manish Malhotra in Abu Dhabi. He is an energetic, innovative, and visionary designer who has helped transform Mumbai into one of the world's fashion capitals. We are proud to work with him, particularly in India, where Etihad Airways is a key player serving many cities across the country with our strategic partner Jet Airways. ”

Manish Malhotra said: “I am very pleased to launch an indescribable virtual reality experience with Etihad Airways in its inimitable innovation center, which allows you to share with your audience the emotions of visiting my collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Festive.”

Manish Malhotra worked with Michael Jackson during his visit to India, as well as with such celebrities as Jean-Claude Van Damme, Reese Witherspoon, Kylie Minogue. He also engaged in wedding dresses for the Princess of Riyadh.

Etihad Airways and Jet Airways jointly operate 252 flights per week from Abu Dhabi to 15 Indian cities. The two carriers thus serve most of the international passenger routes to and from India. During 2017, the total number of their flights will increase to 280 per week with an increase in destinations.
