Andy Garcia: The New Face of Baume & Mercier

The new face of the watch brand Baume & Mercier is the famous Hollywood actor Andy Garcia, who became famous for his roles in the films The Godfather, The Untouchables, Black Rain and the trilogies 11 Ocean Friends, 12 Ocean Friends and 13 Ocean Friends , and also starred in more than 60 films and television series, and produced about 30 films. For the best supporting role in The Godfather, Andy was awarded the Oscars and Golden Globes in 1991. According to representatives of the Swiss watch house Baume & Mercier, Garcia has a classic timeless elegance, expressive charisma and personality, which attracted them to it. In addition, the human qualities of the actor, such as gentleness, humanism and generosity, which made him the next ambassador of the watch brand, were also important. Before him, this honorable mission was carried out by Evangeline Lilly and David Duchovny, Meg Ryan and Kiefer Sutherland (2006), Kim Basinger and Gary Sinis (2007), Teri Hatcher and Ashton Kutcher (2008).

Traditionally, the contract with the company is signed for a period of one year, during which the brand’s “ambassador” provides its support for charity events and initiatives, such as the Baume & Mercier & Me campaign launched in 2005.

If we turn to history, then watchmakers from Baume & Mercier began to engage in charity a long time ago. Arthur Baum, the son of one of the company's founders, Mason Baum, and the then director of the Baume & Mercier subsidiary in London, personally supported the work of the French hospital in the British capital during the First World War. He served as chairman of the company, taking over from his predecessor and uncle Celestine Baum in the 19th century. In 1920, Arthur Baum was awarded for his work the French "Order of the Legion of Honor", which he personally handed the President of France Raymond Poincare. During World War II, the chairman of the board of Baume & Mercier, Constantine de Gorsky, took an active part in the work of the Red Cross in Geneva.

But since the 1920s, Baume & Mercier has continuously supported numerous humanitarian initiatives related to the environment, helping children, and medical research, which today have grown into Baume & Mercier & Me's own charity campaign. It is based on three basic principles: closeness, authenticity and creativity. Celebrities known to millions of people in the world participate in it. By agreeing to participate in advertising shootings, they help raise more funds for the Baume & Mercier & Me campaign, which then goes to research aimed at combating cancer, educating children, and helping women and children in the poorest countries of the world.
