Dubai will receive the world's first virtual border

At Dubai airports, the world's first absolutely virtual borders will appear.

Dubai, UAE. Dubai General Directorate for Residency and International Affairs introduced smart tunnels that will reduce the procedure for passing passport control in the air harbors of the emirate to 15 seconds.

The innovation presented at the Gitex Technology Week exhibition is another step by Dubai towards establishing the world's first fully virtual customs borders. “Smart tunnels are the future of passport control,” the directorate said.

"The world's first biometric system allows passengers to simply go through the tunnel without doing anything. You don’t even need to show a passport. The tunnel has a face recognition system that performs the control procedure in just 15 seconds," the department said.
