Captain Harvey Odyssey

The head office of Exomos in the Jebel Ali Free Economic Zone is visible from afar. At the entrance there is a “underwater dragon” - a submarine, the design of which is as close as possible to the prototype of the legendary “Nautilus” from Jules Verne’s adventure novel “20,000 leagues under the sea”. This cute "monster", despite its terrifying appearance, has become a favorite of the International Boat Show in Dubai and in the very near future will gain special popularity among tourists. Would you like to make a trip under water to a depth of 30 meters and feel like captain Nemo?

My acquaintance with the underwater world begins already in the Exomos reception room. In anticipation of the authorities, I am studying an aquarium with exotic colorful fish, which occupies almost the entire wall. Then I am escorted up a spiral staircase to the office of Exomos general manager and former commandant, mechanical engineer of the French Naval Academy Harvey Jobert, where I see another aquarium with gluttonous poisonous moray eels. Anticipating my first question, he explains: "I live in the sea, the underwater world is my element. Even according to the horoscope I am Pisces."

The charming Frenchman enthusiastically talks about how, after many years of military service, he decided to retire in order to begin to realize his childhood dreams. Today, Harvey is not just the owner of a successful shipbuilding company, but also the designer of all these unique underwater structures.

At the beginning of his career as a “free artist in free swimming,” he created a “black” submarine for the US Navy Police, models of which are now acquired by other countries, including the United Arab Emirates. Today, Harvey believes that the most popular will soon be the use of modern "yellow" submarines. Depending on the type, they can be used to study coastal reefs, for underwater tourism and fast movement (as yet without traffic jams!) Among the fast-growing bulk islands of the Gulf.

As expected, hotels in the UAE and other coastal states will purchase sightseeing submarines for several people. Private traders will be able to limit themselves to smaller submarines in size and displacement. Harvey himself is a diver and sailor with many years of experience, I am sure that scuba diving enthusiasts will appreciate the comfort and practicality of its original facilities. It should be noted that after the resounding success of the Exomos submarine at last year's Dubai show of boats and yachts, orders from newly-minted local and foreign millionaires simply fell in the company. In fact, what else could a truly rich person who already owns luxury housing, cars, yachts, wish for? The point is small - you need your own submarine! And the sea is already there.

Engineers and designers of aircraft have long established a pattern: the more their designs resemble birds, the better, the farther and faster these machines fly. The creators of submarines take the same approach. Exomos engineers have some original designs. For example, this small ship, similar to a small crocodile, is ready for launching.

In addition, there are submarines, outlines resembling dragons and octopuses. They also showed me a brilliant bright red boat with a speed of up to 150 miles per hour. "This sports car is a real Lamborghini on the water," Harvey is proud of his brainchild, wiping wet leather seats with a special sponge. Nearby is another white and blue beauty - Airboat, the secret of which is that the engine is located on the hull of the boat above the water, which allows her to feel equally good both in depth and in shallow water. According to Harvey Jobert, this walking model may be of most interest to Russian buyers.

At the factory of "male dreams", you can get acquainted with other high-speed models of underwater vehicles. The SPV high-speed patrol submarine is the first submersible of this type to be controlled by a crew of two people, the crew on board consists of ten professional divers, and there is also room for six passengers. The boat is designed for sudden and effective action by the police or other law enforcement and official bodies that monitor compliance with laws. The unique civilian “version” of this submarine - Proteus - is used both for scientific and educational purposes, and for rescue operations. On its board can accommodate sixteen divers and eight passengers. The boat is capable of diving to a depth of 18 meters.

"We cannot but take into account the rapid development of the tourism industry in Dubai. This emirate is becoming a world famous international resort," says Harvey. “Every year, a growing number of travelers from all over the world crave more and more unusual entertainments and unique opportunities for relaxation. It is necessary to conquer the tourist market of Dubai with something extraordinary, and I am sure that our submarines will add a lot of fresh and amazing impressions to the“ piggy bank of Dubai wonders ” "Exomos is a manufacturer of submarines and vessels of the next generation, the demand for which will only grow."

We wish Hareve Jobert, a man with an inexhaustible imagination, new ideas and their implementation!
