Tourists are allowed to fly drones in Dubai

Tourists will be able to get permission to control a drone in Dubai remotely.

Dubai Aviation Authority is working on a mechanism that will allow tourists to register and receive a certificate for the management of unmanned aerial vehicles on the Internet. This will allow them to use drones upon arrival in Dubai.

Recall that today in Dubai there is a fine in the amount of from 1000 to 20 thousand dirhams ($ 272 - $ 5.4 thousand) for the unfair use of drones.

A new decree was announced on the sidelines of a two-day unmanned aviation forum that began on Monday in Dubai.

Also on Monday, Michael Rudolph, head of the airspace security department of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), said that over the past year and a half, tourists have dropped 12 drones at the famous hotel in Dubai, not realizing that when flying around such a large building, the drone will be unavailable.

Hotel management reported incidents to the DCAA each time, and service representatives arrived to pick up the drones.

As for residents, there are several rules that provide for legal permission to operate unmanned aerial vehicles in the country. All unmanned aerial vehicle operators are required to register their drone with DCAA. All drone managers must obtain a license to operate the device.

According to Rudolph, by the end of the year 5 thousand registrations will be completed.

The fine for managing without registration is from 20 thousand dirhams ($ 5.4 thousand), as well as imprisonment.

Since 2015, there have been four incidents when the airports of Dubai and Sharjah were closed due to drones, which cost the economy millions of dollars. It was after these incidents that strict rules were introduced for the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the UAE.

Rudolph said that so far no one has been fined for managing an unregistered drone, as the authorities patiently adhere to the "educational" line of conduct.
