Are there any Orthodox churches or churches in the UAE?

Yes, in the United Arab Emirates there are Orthodox churches belonging to the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Church of the Holy Apostle Philip The Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate was opened in 2011 and is located in the emirate of Sharjah.

The laying of the church of St. Apostle Philip on September 9, 2007 was made by the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, Kirill (now the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia). His Highness Crown Prince of the Emirate of Sharjah Sheikh Isam bin Sacr Al-Qassimi (Isaam Bin Saqr Al-Qassimi) and the Special Representative of the President of Russia in the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Saltanov attended the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the foundation of the future temple.

In the same emirate is located Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator, opened in 1980 and owned by the Armenian Apostolic Church.

In December 2014, another Armenian temple was opened in the capital of the United Arab Emirates Abu Dhabi in the presence of representatives of the large Armenian diaspora - temple of the Holy Martyrs.

The ceremony of consecration of the temple was led by the head of the Cilician Catholicosate of the Armenian Apostolic Church (Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia) Catholicos Aram I. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the UAE Gegham Tiranovich Garibjanian attended the ceremony of opening the temple.

The Armenian temple in Abu Dhabi was built with the active support of the UAE authorities. The land for construction was granted by the late first president of the Arab Emirates and ruler of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan. He allocated the first 100 thousand US dollars for the construction of the temple. The remaining funds were raised by the Armenian community.

Religious services are regularly held in all churches, celebrations are celebrated, and other cultural and educational events are held.
