Dubai, UAE. Food consumption in the United Arab Emirates will reach 59.2 million tons by 2025, according to the UAE Food Industry Report 2017. This is due to the growth of the local population, the influx of tourists and growing incomes living in the country.
“Food is the second largest sector of the economy in the UAE. In 2016, the spending in this segment amounted to US $ 329 billion and continues to grow,” said Saleh Abdallah Luta, Managing Director of Al Islami Foods.
The forecast for consumption growth is as follows: from 48.1 million tons today to 59.2 million tons by 2021. It is noted that by 2025 the population of the UAE will exceed 10 million people. Currently, Dubai has 16 thousand restaurants and cafes.
