Dubai motorcyclists must now pay for parking their vehicle on a par with motorists.
Motorcyclists will now have to pay for parking in all paid areas in Dubai, as well as owners of other vehicles, the RTA said.
Until recently, motorbikes throughout the city could be parked for free.
Although a paid motorcycle parking system has not yet been formally introduced by the RTA, inspectors have already begun issuing fines.
"There are several parking lots reserved for motorbikes in the Emirate of Dubai. Nevertheless, motorbikes are regarded as ordinary vehicles and can be parked in any ordinary parking lot in the city," said an RTA spokesman.
The RTA representative explained that there would be no special rates or discounts for motorcycles.
“We urge all road users to use the smart payment service, and motorcyclists should use the smart parking application or SMS to pay for parking if they fear that paper receipts might be stolen or lost,” the representative added.
