In the UAE, the raped and murdered boy criminal appeals the death penalty

In Abu Dhabi, a criminal convicted of rape and murder of a boy from Russia and sentenced to death sent an appeal.

A 33-year-old Pakistani man who was sentenced to death in November last year by the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court after being convicted of raping and killing an 11-year-old boy appeals the decision to the Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal.

The father of the child, who attended the first hearing in the court of appeal, insisted on the death penalty. He said the killer’s family tried to negotiate a pardon with him and his family after the trial court ordered the death sentence.

The court was adjourned until February 13.

On June 2, 2017, the body of a Pakistani boy, Azan Majid, was found on the roof of a building on Muroor Road, where he lived with his father and stepmother. The mother of the child is reportedly living in Russia.

According to the prosecution, the defendant changed into women's clothing to lure the boy to the roof, where he raped and killed the child.
