New taxi ordering system launched in Dubai

The Dubai administration has introduced a new system for ordering taxis at events.

Dubai authorities have introduced a new taxi ordering system at events. The new scheme will reduce waiting times in shopping centers and other public places. This step is aimed at increasing the mobility of passengers.

The system is called Smart Time Management System (STMS). The program will be launched at venues of major exhibitions and conferences, it will allow the Dubai Traffic and Transport Administration (RTA) to receive data on the number of passengers and direct vehicles in real time.

According to RTA, the system will help passengers to receive information about the number of available vehicles with an estimated waiting time.

Head of RTA Mattar Al Thayer, attending a briefing on the smart system, called it an innovative solution.

The system consists of several monitors: at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the queue. The number of people waiting for a taxi is measured by special equipment, and passengers can also give ratings, which allows the RTA to monitor the quality of passenger service.

The system is also equipped with a computer server, cameras that read license plates of taxi cars at the points of entry and exit to the event.

In the future, the system will be combined with the Intelligent Transport Center, which can simultaneously serve more than 23 major events.

It is worth noting that taxi in Dubai is a popular mode of transport - passenger traffic for the first six months amounted to more than 87 million people.

In Dubai, more than 500 events are held annually, so the system for optimizing taxi traffic in the city is more than relevant.

"The Dubai Traffic and Transport Authority is striving not only to meet citizens' expectations, but to exceed them. RTA continues to work to improve the quality of customer service, reducing waiting times in accordance with the best international standards," said Mr. Al Thayer.

A team of management experts attended many events in Dubai to assess the needs of visitors for taxi services. After that, a team of professionals conducted a comprehensive analysis of the problems that customers face when ordering a taxi during a major event.

The concept of the system was tested during events held at the Dubai World Trade Center.

During the pilot launch, about 12 thousand customers took advantage of the system. Test results showed a reduction in waiting times for taxi drivers, as well as an increase in customer satisfaction.
