Sharjah Emirates Lower Electricity Charges

The ruler of the emirate of Sharjah has reduced electricity charges for certain categories of residents.

In accordance with the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE, the Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) reduced electricity tariffs. The initiative extends to apartments with an unconditional ownership right and to real estate owned by residents of the emirate, as well as expats.

Initially, the fixed tariff rate could reach 45 fils ($ US 0.12) per kilowatt. Now, when used up to 2 thousand kilowatts, the rate will drop to 28 fils ($ US 0.076). If you use more than 6.001 kW, a fee of 43 fils per kilowatt will be charged.

When using from 2.001 to 4.000 kW, a fee of 33 fils ($ US 0.09) will be charged, and if using more than 4.001, but less than 6000 kW, a fee of 37 fils ($ US 0.1) per kilowatt will be charged.

The initiative will affect 50 thousand people.
