Abu Dhabi hotel handing out delicacies to homeless animals

Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, a metropolitan hotel, distributes leftover food with brunches to homeless animals.

Dubai, UAE. The five-star Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel was the first hotel in Abu Dhabi to distribute food left after brunch to stray cats and dogs. The distribution took place last Friday, July 5, in the capital's hotel and animal clinic Cloud 9.

The products were delivered directly from the hotel kitchen, ground into minced meat and fed animals. According to the emirate chef Jamal Al Breiki, the author of the idea, three more hotels want to join the initiative, and in the future, as he hopes, this practice will become familiar to all UAE hotels.

He also noted that there is growing concern in the country on the topic of cost overruns. So, according to the Emirates Environmental Group, annually in the UAE, food worth 13 billion dirhams (US $ 3.5 billion) gets into food waste.

On the first day of the action, the emirate collected about 30 kg of products completely free of bones, sauces and other ingredients harmful to animals. "With 10 brunches, you can collect about a ton of food that you can feed stray animals," said Jamal Al Breaks. He is currently collaborating with Animal Action UAE to help as many animals as possible.
