Dubai Tourist Flow Rises Again

Dubai reported a significant increase in the number of tourists in the first half of the year.

The number of foreign tourists in Dubai increased by 3% in the first half of 2019 - up to 8.36 million people, according to new data from the Ministry of Tourism and Commercial Marketing of the Emirate (Dubai Tourism).

The number of guests from China increased by 11 percent compared to the previous year and reached 501 thousand people. The number of tourists from Oman has also increased - by 28 percent compared to the previous year - up to 499 thousand people. Growth also affected inbound from the Philippines. A slight decline was recorded from the tourist markets of India and the UK.

Saudi Arabia remained the second largest market: the number of guests in Dubai amounted to 755 thousand people. During the holidays on the occasion of Eid al-Fitra, tourist flow increased by 4.9%.

According to Dubai Tourism, the number of hotel rooms in the first half of the year increased by 6% compared to the previous year and amounted to 118.345 units, while the number of hotels increased by 2% to 714.
