Machine of good

THIS YEAR BATMAN CELEBRATES 75TH ANNIVERSARY. NOT FROM BIRTH, BUT FROM THE BEGINNING OF “LABOR ACTIVITY” - IN MAY 1939, A VOLUME MOUSE FIRST TIME APPEARED ON THE PAGES OF THE DETECTIVE COMICS MAGAZINE. APPEARED IN FULL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING THE FAMOUS Cloak, PATRONTASH BELT AND CAR FOR NIGHT ATTACKS IN THE FICTIONAL GOTHEM CITY. SO THAT A BETMOBIL - AND ITS VERSIONS FOR THREE QUARTERS OF A CENTURY HAS ALREADY TAKEN OUT OF TENS - THIS YEAR IS A DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY.

Creating their Dark Knight in the sunset of the 1930s, Bob Kane and Bill Finger apparently felt that the evil that Batman (the person’s name was originally spelled) had to fight to the bitter end, would grow and improve in parallel with technological progress. Therefore, the nightly alter ego of the prosperous bachelor Wayne was always supposed to be one step ahead of the enemies. If the raincoat is “lethal”, if the car is jet and heavy duty. Today, in addition to the cinema fleet of vehicles, which consists of five original Batmobiles, there are several active replicas collected by enthusiasts in the world where they win races and raids among their own kind and which are resold at considerable prices at auctions. And therefore, Batmobiles, in addition to aesthetic appeal, also have investment.

Paper tigers

The first Batmobile, painted by the artist Jerry Robinson, was red as the owner’s tights, had a small black logo of the Dark Knight on the radiator and most resembled the 1936 Cord810. The real prototype with "hidden" headlights was the first front-wheel drive and fastest pre-war car. The Lycoming V8 turbocharged aircraft engine (still mounted on Robinson helicopters) accelerated this four-seater to a top speed of 177 km / h, making it easy to overtake the compressed Mercedes-Benz roadsters.

Celluloid garage

The first on-screen incarnation of the Batman saga took place in 1943, where starring Lewis Wilson drives the four-door black Cadillac cabriolet of the pre-war 70 series. In 1949, another 15-episode movie Batman and Robin starring Robert Lowry where the same model appears, but this time in the version of the two-door convertible of the 62nd series.

In 1966, a television series was released on the ABC channel, in which Adam West plays the role of Batman. The role of the Batmobile in each of the 120 series, in turn, is played by the 1959 Lincoln Futura concept car, made manually by the Italian studio Ghia and slightly modified by the American designer George Barris. Barris once bought this futuristic car from the Italians and put it in the garage until better times.

When they arrived, the ABC channel demanded to make a Batmobile in just three weeks. Burris Custom experts painted the body in a dark blue color with red contour contours, installed a flasher, Batscope night vision, Bateye anti-theft system and Batray laser beamers.

In 2013, at a Barrett Jackson auction, this car was sold for $ 4.6 million. In 1989, the premiere of the movie "Batman" by Tim Burton.

Even the uninitiated could see with what pleasure this lover of Gothic horror stories began to create the gloomy world of Gotham.

The modest scope of the publication allows only a brief mention of the incised mouth of Nicholson-Joker, the tragic beak of Penguin de Vito and the sensual tail of the Cat-Pfeiffer Catwoman before moving directly to the Batmobile. This time, designer Anton Furst conjured a long time over the Chevrolet Impala, it is no coincidence that this film adaptation was the first high-budget. The most characteristic detail was the impeller of the turbine instead of the radiator. One of the features of the Batmobile that moved with Michael Keaton to the next 1992 Batman Returns movie was its ability to quickly “lose weight” by dropping wings and other body parts to squeeze into minimally narrow passages. The sheaf of flame that this monster left behind in the afterburner with orange fog lights and a black streamlined body, the style most similar to Art Deco, was probably the brightest brushstroke in the entire color palette of the film, generally dark and gloomy.

In 1995, the continuation of the saga was entrusted to Joel Schumacher. In the car of Val Kilmer from the movie "Batman Forever", made on the basis of the Chevrolet 350 ZZ3, this time automatic machine guns hid, but at the end of the film all this splendor was blown up by the main villain performed by Jim Carrey.

In the next 1997 film "Batman and Robin," the protagonists' vehicle was slightly modified. Now in it it was necessary to find a place for the not-so-petite Alicia Silverstone, who played Batgirl. By the way, in the Batmobile it was the second open body after 1966. In 2005, Christopher Nolan took on the adaptation of the Dark Knight saga. His Batman Beginnings was partly based on Frank Miller's comics, and the image of the new Batmobile was borrowed from there. The Lamborghini and Tank Hybrid, as designers Chris Corbould and Andy Smith called it, as well as designer Nathan Crowley, was named Tumbler. According to legend, a combat vehicle with such a code nickname went to Christian Bale's hero in conversion and was repainted in black. A Tumbler with a 5.7-liter engine was able to bounce up to 18 meters, accelerate to 170 km / h in 5 seconds, break through concrete walls and ride on them, and if that didn’t help, the cab ejected and turned into a Batpod motorcycle equipped with blaster, machine gun and harpoon.

Jet monsters

In July 2011, Dublin Casey Putsch, the owner of the auto restoration company Putsch Racing, said that he had assembled a Batmobile from Tim Burton’s films, with a jet engine. The 365-horsepower Boeing gas turbine was removed from the 1960 Apache military helicopter and successfully hid in the body of a two-seater Impala converted in exact accordance with the on-screen prototype. The controls of the jet engine remained the same as in a conventional car: steering wheel, pedals, lever of a mechanical gearbox. For the convenience of users, an ipad is fixed on the instrument panel, on which the engine operation is displayed. The tablet can also be used as a GPS navigator. Car certification required the installation of an automatic fire protection system on board. A 1270 kg double Batmobile, whistling like a Nightingale the Robber, successfully passed tests, including in winter conditions, was noted on YouTube and in 2012 safely went under the hammer of eBay for $ 520 thousand.

And the Swedish portal JamesEdition, specializing in online luxury goods trading, posted an ad this spring selling a replica of Batman’s famous car from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. The Batmobile Tumbler was built in California by order of the Team Galag sports team (Saudi Arabia) to participate in the Gumball 3000 international races. The body was brewed in the Parker Brothers Concepts workshop, checking frames from the film. A 400-horsepower 6.2-liter Chevrolet V8 biturbo engine spliced the undercarriage of the Litchfield atelier. The output of the machine also indicated a DVD with an iPod jack. The built-in motorcycle, alas, was absent.

On videos posted on the Internet, you can see the start of the Batmobile in Copenhagen in May 2013. Subsequently, its 44-inch wheels traveled 4,800 kilometers along the route Monaco - Vienna - Warsaw - Stockholm - Tallinn - Riga - Helsinki - St. Petersburg. The maximum speed of the 2.5-ton monster was 100 miles per hour. They say that Team Galag has spent more than £ 1 million on the creation of the car, and now it is giving away the “toy” for only a million dollars.

2016

FOR 2016 ANNOUNCED THE OUTPUT OF THE FILM OF ZAK SIDIDER "BATMAN AGAINST SUPERMAN", UNDER THIS IT IS UNDERSTANDABLE THAT THE OVERHEAD MAIN SUPERHEROES COULD RESULT. THE PLOT IS KEEPING IN A SECRET, IT IS KNOWN ONLY THAT BETMEN WILL BE PLAYED BY BEN AFFLEK, AND HIS PALACE - JEREMIE IRONS Judging by the official photographs from the set, the new Batmobile will be wide and flat, however, the military style of the old wrestling style will again give way to

BATMAN AND ROBIN

Since the early 1940s, when the young Robin became an associate of Batman, the artists repainted the Batmobile black. First, the car is equipped with a ram in the form of a head with pointed ears, then this archaic detail is removed, in turn, decorating the body with webbed flaps and separate cockpits, as in a fighter.

For a long time, the Batmobile, which uses the built-in nuclear reactor as an energy source, remains narrow and long until Batumen appears in 1954, after which the main vehicle undergoes restyling, having copied the most futuristic concepts of world manufacturers.

Among them - Lamborghini Miura 1970 release, Ford Torino (1971), Porsche 904 (1973), Bugatti Atlantic (1993), Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR (2004) and others.
