Elizabeth Havello: I have no problem with inspiration

Gavello is a young but dynamic company that takes research in quality, technology, design and global fashion trends very seriously. The designer and ideological inspirer of the House, Elizabeth Havello, advises readers of Russian Emirates magazine to wear large jewelry.

Elizabeth, how did you turn out to be the head of the family business?

The company was created by my parents - Rinaldo and Marta Havello - at the dawn of the 1970s. Father, a professional architect, recognized only clear lines and geometric shapes. He brought an impeccable sense of style to the family business. Mom embodied a more creative beginning and at the same time possessed an intuitive understanding of market trends. All this together is the basis of our "philosophy of clean design."

After the death of my father (he left us four years ago), I continue the tradition and still support his style. But in parallel, I am looking for new forms.

Nevertheless, what is more important today - design or technology?

The design idea comes from the heart. And if you try to repeat his call, you risk faking it. And no technology justifies the falsities: experience shows that empty and useless are quickly forgotten. I create an immortal classic, as my father did. This allows us to combine the technology, craftsmanship and artistry of our jewelers. And I am pleased to realize that our customers like it. Gives them the opportunity to make emotional journeys and feel special. As for innovative technologies ... Of course, I am aware of global trends and try to be at the forefront.

Recognition is one of your top priorities, isn't it?

Recognition is provided to us by plastic forms that perfectly follow the lines of the body. For example, the Gavello collection has bracelets that are worn only on the right hand - their design is so organic that the jewelry is almost not felt on the wrist. They are very in demand by customers. We also work actively with color and use Extensa's patented material - a combination of ceramics and precious stones. This exclusive technology expands our design capabilities.

Traditional Gavello products easily transform into evening accessories. Do you think that "everything is allowed" today?

Of course, we have jewelry for the evening publication and more solemn occasions. But most of the jewelry is universal: they can be combined with jeans and more formal clothes.

Do you carry your creations?

I always create jewelry that I would like to wear myself. And I closely follow fashion trends, especially the change in color scheme. Maybe that's why I have no problem with inspiration!

For example, in the fall-winter season of 2013-2014, the main trend is the use of deep and pure tones and large forms. Some of the necklaces from Gavello support this trend. We did not forget the rock and roll theme - beloved by us and fans of the brand. This trend is presented in pendants and rings in a pseudo-Gothic style. I simply adore our original skull rings and sword pendant chains.

Is participation in international exhibitions relevant for you?

Of course, this year, for example, we were very well represented in Basel. And our collection was accepted with a bang! Professional salons and exhibitions are crucial for expanding the network and innovative change.

What are your plans for the near future?

Ideal design, plastic forms and, of course, the same taste - this is Gavello DNA. This is unchanging. But for me, for example, it would be very interesting to collaborate with designer brands, to experiment with the search for new forms. I also want to achieve some fame in the Italian market. And expand the territorial horizons by presenting the company's products in the markets of Russia, Europe and the Middle East.
