According to Etihad Rail, which is constructing the first railway in the UAE, the second stage of its construction, during which Abu Dhabi, the Jebel Ali Free Economic Zone and the city of Dubai will be connected, will begin this year. In a recent official statement, Etihad Rail said that “for the construction of a 1,200 km railway network, investments will be worth a total of 40 billion dirhams (US $ 11 billion). After commissioning, it will be able to serve 16 million passengers a year, and after connecting it with the railways of other GCC countries in 2030, it will transport 110 million tons of cargo and 2 million containers. " According to the information posted on the official website of Etihad Rail, the Emirate railway will connect with Saudi Arabia through the Ghweifat region in the west, and Oman through the city of Al Ain in the east.
