Abu Dhabi builds the longest transport tunnel in the Middle East

In the capital of the UAE, the construction of the largest transport tunnel in the Middle East region is coming to an end, the work on which lasted for three years. It is expected that the opening of the tunnel will take place before the end of this year and will be timed to coincide with the upcoming summit of the heads of the Gulf Cooperation Council. More than 2 thousand workers were involved in the construction of a 3-kilometer tunnel. The beginning of the tunnel is located at the eastern entrance to the city of Abu Dhabi. It is laid under Al Salam towards the port of Zayed, in the western part of the capital. More than 2 kilometers of the tunnel is underground at a depth of 15 m. The total cost of this project amounted to 5 billion dirhams (US $ 1.3 billion).
