Together with children

Tips for parents: what to do with the "flowers of life" at their leisure in the Emirates for their own benefit and their own peace of mind

REMEMBER YOUR CHILDHOOD. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO PLAY? IN “SUBSIDIARIES”, “KAZAKI BATTERIES”, IN “SCHOOL”, IN “PUPPET THEATER” ... Practically ALL FAVORITE GAMES WERE BUILT ON THE BASIS OF OUR FANTASY AND IMAGINATION.

We were mothers, nursing children, super-heroes, travelers, astronauts and artists. A bedspread stretched between two chairs served as a puppet theatrical stage, the roof of a neighboring garage was an uninhabited island, the willow rod was proudly called a sword. Today, our children have the most luxurious toys, advanced and sophisticated games, high-tech devices. “Press the button, you will get the result” - this is the motto of modern hi-tech toys. But such a toy will not teach a child to think creatively, to create something new and unusual, to develop imagination.

Having chosen this rather specific country for living, where climatic conditions do not allow the child to spend a long time in the fresh air, where every hour of parental time literally spills out into the “time money” formula and it’s very difficult to choose a free minute for distraction, and extracurricular activities are limited by territorial limits, parents and teachers do not always succeed in implementing the theory of how to educate a person in a funny little one. It is very difficult, being in the Emirates, to proportionally develop a child: intellectually, spiritually, aesthetically and physically.

Young children learn the world very actively. Running, jumping and climbing is a natural process of studying the world around them, in the future, physical training has a positive effect on the children's intellectual abilities, as active children concentrate better, show a penchant for creativity and solve their tasks faster. It is necessary to take into account the psychological aspects of physical activity - spending free energy, chasing a ball in the yard with peers or doing acrobatics in the hall, the child gets rid of stress, tension, hidden aggression and anger.

Features of raising children in the UAE create understandable barriers to the necessary and sufficient physical children's activity. Parents cannot let their children play outside: there is not always a park or a playground near their place of residence, there is no one to look after a walking child, it is too hot or humid in the open. Not all kindergartens have a large area for active children’s classes, and schools usually also can’t provide optional classes designed to develop a personality that are not related to the educational process.

And finally, parents and children living in the UAE spend more and more time driving and staying in traffic jams, spending time at the TV screen or a computer monitor and on “family” walks in numerous shopping centers than on outdoor games - volleyball , football or badminton, or fun fussing with a company of childish peers somewhere in the park. Our daughters and you no longer know how to jump the rope, and sons are unlikely to be able to jump over the fence, as their fathers once did with ease. Probably, these skills will not be useful to someone in life, but ...

We urge all parents, as educators of their own children in the conditions of the Emirates, to overcome inertia and study your children’s predispositions for any type of activity, choose a lesson for them and help them adapt in our "crazy, crazy, crazy world." Let your children draw, dance, sing, study martial arts, skate or roller skate, ride bicycles and so on and so on and so forth ... The generation of modern children and teenagers knows firsthand what physical inactivity is. Pediatricians around the world are sounding the alarm - in children who are constantly sitting at a computer, vision drops sharply by the second grade of the school, children who lead an inert lifestyle suffer from obesity, heart and blood vessel diseases, diabetes and many other ailments. Of course, for us, who grew up in the days of free circles and sections at all the houses of culture and the houses of pioneers and schoolchildren of the Soviet Union, it is sometimes difficult to comprehend that the task of developing our own child is a very expensive thing nowadays. But still, fellow parents, do not save on the health of their own children. And most importantly, let them begin to build relationships with friends according to their interests, without closing the entire circle of their communication only on themselves. Your task is to teach your children to think, make decisions independently and be responsible for their own actions. That is how the child becomes a person.

So, to help you with a difficult choice, below we give some addresses and phone numbers of various children's and teenage centers of active and creative development located in Dubai. If you live in Abu Dhabi or, conversely, in the northern emirates - Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain or Ras Al Khaimah, take a look at similar centers and clubs there. Surely they are there. We are sure that you can find a business that will appeal to your son or daughter. Good luck
