Bridges and stops in Dubai will be made using 3D printing

Dubai is going to apply 3D technology to the construction of roads, bridges and other facilities.

A pedestrian bridge, an art object at the entrance to the Hatta Gate region, a bus stop and a maritime station are a list of objects in Dubai that the Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) is planning to use 3D printing in its construction.

In April 2016, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, vice president and ruler of Dubai, said that 25 percent of all construction in the emirate should use advanced technologies by 2030.

"The use of 3D printing in these projects will contribute to the effective promotion of Dubai as the smartest city, an international center for tourists, visitors, investors and businessmen and the leading financial, tourism and service center in the world," said Abdul Reda Abul Hassan, executive Director of Planning and Development and Chairman of the Dubai 3D Printing Strategy Implementation Committee at RTA.

"We are fully confident that this digital technology will revolutionize mass transit projects in Dubai," he said.

Sheikh Mohammed previously estimated the contribution of 3D printing to the world economy by 2025 at $ 300 billion.
