UAE government denies rumors about swine flu spread in country

Abu Dhabi authorities were forced to dispel rumors of swine flu circulating on social networks.

The Abu Dhabi Health Authority (ADHA) has responded to swine flu rumors spreading on social media.

ADHA confirmed that there were no cases of swine flu in the UAE and asked residents not to believe the rumors that are circulating on social networks.

ADHA also explained that seasonal flu usually lasts from October to the end of April. Some residents, according to representatives of the Office, can not distinguish its symptoms from the pig.

The duration of the flu can vary from five to seven days. However, in the case of children, the disease can last up to two weeks. People with a weakened immune system amid age, diabetes, or previously observed respiratory illnesses such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma are more susceptible to the virus.

Residents are advised to be vaccinated to prevent flu. ADHA warns of a number of side effects, which may include slight redness or swelling at the injection site, a slight increase in temperature, minor pain in the body and throat.
