Who was the first to dress grateful humanity from animal skins to tunics and togas? Who came up with towels, table linens and bedding? There is no 100 percent evidence that the ancient Greeks did this, but we read in Homer in the Iliad: “Atrid sprang up, and a divine voice still spilled around his ears; he sat down and dressed in a soft tunic, New, beautiful, and threw on top a wide robe ... "

From pastoral sunny Arcadia in 1926, a young businessman Ilias Togas arrives in Athens. He opens a small atelier specializing in military uniforms in the Greek capital. A few years later, ordering a wool uniform from Togas for the officers of the Greek army became a matter of honor. In 1942, the entrepreneur marries Katarina Schick, the heiress of the Austrian textile empire, and this union becomes the key to the further successful development of the Togas brand.

Divine touch

In the 50s, the main production of the Togas textile house was still the army uniform. Ilias opens a new embroidery workshop, the first in the country, where special machines make chevrons and other insignia, previously made by hand. But, unlike the seemingly beginner Hugo Boss, Togas chooses as a vector of further development not a podium, but textile for interiors in his favorite Art Deco style. The tradition is continued in the 70s by the sons of Ilias Pavlos and Dimitris.

Based on existing production facilities and an inherited entrepreneurial vein, the brothers significantly expand their product range. In the 80s, it already included handmade curtains, pillows, bedspreads, bedding, terry towels and bathrobes. Their quality is so high that the brand’s fame gradually goes beyond the borders of the country. In fact, no weaving factory in the world, no sewing atelier can offer fabrics that are equally comfortable in sensations - both tactile and visual.

In 1995, the head of the textile empire becomes the son of Pavlos Togas Costas. He brings the brand to the international market, opening sales offices and boutiques in different countries of the world. Today, their number has exceeded the second hundred; one of the first was a store in the Moscow GUM. In February 2016, the year of the 90th anniversary of the Togas brand, a boutique was opened in Dubai at Um Suqeim East Road, Al Barsha 2.

No limits fantasy

As a recognized world leader in home textiles, the Togas brand is characterized by constant dynamic development, and this is evident with every new boutique. In Dubai, for example, visitors will find not only a wide selection of collections of home textiles, table linens, dishes, home fragrances (over 3,000 catalog items), but also a special creative studio that generates individual interior solutions. This is a conceptually new project that combines under one roof the Togas House of Textiles finished goods store (one of 120 in the world today) with the Togas Couture Interiors design bureau (fifty-seventh in a row), where you can order individual tailoring of whatever you like - from pillows or tablecloths with a unique ornament to the complex interior of the bedroom, dining room and other home spaces.

Delicate cashmere, the finest silk, linen processed using the "stone washing" technology, tensel, bamboo - this is not a complete list of fabrics in the Greek brand's palette of offers. And Art Deco is far from the only style that Togas designers work in. The R&D laboratory (Research and Development), opened in 2011 by Costas Togas in Athens, is responsible for the quality of new ideas. Over two thousand Togas employees around the world are engaged not only in the sale, but also in the search for the best textile materials, as well as their best manufacturers. Many years ago, which proved the important, if not fundamental, role of textiles in home interiors, today Togas brand offers in this direction a kind of hi end, recognized by experts and loved by customers.
