Jumeirah Group opens first resort in Azerbaijan

The international hospitality management company Jumeirah Group announces a large-scale expansion into Eastern Europe, which starts with the opening of the luxurious five-star resort Jumeirah Bilgah Beach Hotel in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

This hotel, located on the Caspian Sea in an area of 12 hectares, was opened last summer.

In accordance with the agreement concluded with the local owner, Azinko Holdings, the hotel company has invested in the opening of the resort about US $ 80 million and will manage it for 25 years. Jumeirah Group, which operates 20 hotels in different countries of the world, chose Baku as a gateway to the Russian and CIS markets. “We are pleased to work here in a city whose strategy is to diversify a resource-oriented economy and develop the tourism industry,” said Mete Atakuman, general manager of the hotel. Old Baku, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, contains such ancient monuments as the Maiden’s Tower and the Shirvan Shahs Palace. Here you can also find "prints" of the Soviet era, which often cause nostalgia for tourists. Currently, large-scale construction of real estate is underway in Baku, as well as the rise of industries and agriculture. "Under the existing conditions, our resort will attract not only vacationers, but also business travelers, visitors to exhibitions and conferences," the director of the hotel explained.

The resort is 15 km from the airport and 30 minutes from the historical center and business districts of the city, in the east of Baku. The air in this area is famous for its high oxygen content, so in Soviet times this place was a cardiological sanatorium.

The 18-story Jumeirah Bilgah Beach Hotel has 176 rooms, overlooking the sea. In addition, there are luxury family rooms, as well as VIP apartments. It offers: a 300-meter private beach and 14 separate cottages for living. The complex has 8 international restaurants, a water park with 11 water slopes, a mini-football field, a basketball court, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, a spa, a bowling club, and halls for celebrations and conferences .

The buildings were designed by the local architect Nazim Valiev, in the design combines classic and modern. In the lobby of the hotel you can see the longest chandelier in the world, in the ensemble of which there are 58 meters of gilding and silver and 72 thousand lamps. It illuminates all 18 floors of the hotel.
